Core cloud native technologies are necessarily open source technologies. But when we start to move away from the core, the “open core” world begins to rear its head. In an open core model, a commercial product is based on an open source core, usually with limited features. In this talk, we’ll look at the functional and community boundaries created at the intersection where proprietary software crosses open source software. We’ll then review the current state and future path towards a fully Open Cloud Native stack.
